I wrote the below in response to a question on Dear Cupid asking about the age of men that see prostitutes:

Men of all ages will see prostitutes. My youngest client has been 22. The oldest are going strong in their 80′s.

Men visit prostitutes for a variety of reasons.

Some have a high sex drive that their current partner cannot or will not satisfy.

Some men have average sex drives but partners with zero libido or no interest in sex with them. They may actually love their wives or girlfriends but don’t want to break up. Visiting a prostitute gives them the release and enough will to carry on.

Some like the variety, the chance for a change. Prostitutes cover every age group, every ethnicity, body shape, and sexual fantasy. It’s like a catalogue. Take your pick, within your budget, and pay.

Some men need the intimacy without the commitment. A good example being men recently widowed; just out of a divorce or a relationship split. The last thing they want is a relationship and they know they are not in the frame of mind to be fair in a relationship.

For men that are disabled, they either don’t have the opportunity to meet, wine and dine prospective partners, or are too shy and withdrawn, preferring the straight-forward negotiations of sex with a prostitute to the risk of rejection based on their disability. Sometimes their disability affects their sexual performance and they find it easier to discuss this with a professional sex worker before hand, compared to trying to discuss it with a potential partner who may not have the patience to appreciate that sh*t can happen between the sheets.

Some prostitutes do have their criteria for the kind of clients then will see. A common criteria is the age one. Young men of a certain age mistake prostitutes for the acrobatic panting porn stars in their DVD collection. They think they can treat a prostitute with the disdain dished out to their porn star favourites.

Young men often tend to be rude, and are the most likely to try and run off without paying, on a good day. Young men often stalk massage parlours (brothels) and target them for robberies, assuming that the robbery won’t be reported to the police.

Yes, most prostitutes prefer a gentleman, and the gentleman gene seems to only kick in after a man’s 30th birthday.

My clients below 26 have been few and far between, and after good screening, well-behaved. So the age barrier is a guideline, not a rule.
